Data security is big news. Not a day seems to go by without another large public or private sector organisation hitting the headlines due to a data breach. Consequently, protecting live data is taken very seriously, but in our experience, less care is taken when disposing of redundant IT equipment that may still contain sensitive information.
Our secure technology recycling centres are based in Somerset and Wiltshire, and although we offer a Nationwide collection service, we understandably have a close working relationship with organisations in the South West. Our Wells facility is ADISA accredited, and we were interested to read an article written by Steve Mellings, the founder of ADISA (the Asset Disposal & Information Security Alliance) that featured recently in Health Business magazine.
Although obviously aimed at healthcare professionals, the information contained in this article is equally relevant to anyone charged with managing the secure disposal of redundant IT assets. We would certainly recommend giving it a read. The article can be viewed HERE
